Deposit Slip - How to fill out deposit slips correctly
Many of us, is guilty when it comes to successfully completing a bank deposit slip to deposit money into your checking or savings account correctly.
With this article I am hoping to help you with the proper steps of completing your deposit slip.
What is a deposit slip? An itemized slip showing the exact amount of paper money, coin, and checks being deposited to a particular account.
Parts of a Deposit Slip
There are 9 parts to a bank deposit slip they are; the date, currency, coins, list of checks, check amount, total from other side, total amount, less cash received and net deposit.
Below is an explanation for each part.
- Date - Write the Date your are making a deposit.
- Currency - This is for paper money you are depositing to your account
- Coins - If you are depositing changes or coins in that field
- List checks - List each bank transit number and check amount your are depositing
- Bank Transit Number - This is the two part number printed in the upper corner of the check
- Check Amount - This is the total of each check.
- Total from other side - If you are depositing more check than what can be listed on the front. List the check on the back and put the total amount from the back here.
- Total - This is the total amount of deposit from the currency, coins, list of checks, and total from other side fields
- Less Cash Received - When you are making a deposit at a bank teller. You use this field to receive money back from your deposit. Write the amount you would like to receive back here.
- Net Deposit - Write total amount of deposit less cash back in this field. Another note when you are receiving cash back you should also sign your deposit slips
When you order your deposit slip they come preprinted with your home address and accounted number on your slips.
